SIP is great. A rare window has opened, offering a glimpse of my life in the future if I become a resident! As a medical resident, I can expect to have decent working hours, (7-7 or 7-8?) and to have SOME patient contact. The downside is all the waiting around for the consultant to come and round with us.

Can't wait for surg SIP!

Anyway. I think that for all our great hospital rankings and stuff, staying in the hospital is really quite bad. It's so demeaning to lie in a hospital bed all day! The moment you change into the hospital gown and get a bed, you're surrendering a part of your status and autonomy to the hospital.

That means that you're under the hospital's care. That sounds good, but in reality you become thought of as a 'patient', and not so much as a human being. Like there was this patient who was fasted in preparation for an OGD. So he didn't eat anything after midnight, and waited until about near lunchtime. Then! He found out that the scope room was really busy with emergency scopes, so he wouldn't be able to have his scope done. This happened again. And again. This shouldnt happen!

It's really boring in the hospital bed too, seriously. It's like prison. Except that it's "for your own good".
