2008-11-14 : the burden of healing
I'm glad I went for today's PDCP; for the first time ever, I wasn't disappointed. They had this guy who had a bad experience with doctors, and he shared his experience. For me, it really shot home the point that each patient only sees you for about 5-8 minutes, yet they see you as a Doctor. What you do in those 5-8 minutes makes is what they see of you, and they'll draw their own conclusions from there. You are being watched intensely during those 5-8 minutes.

Also, patients don't care if you've had a bad day, just worked 24 hours without sleep, or feel like crap.

The burden of the Healer is truly a weighty one.
