2004-11-29 : HK SigEvents
Actually, for an entire week of holiday, theres surprisingly little to say here. I dont think I really want to write a day-by-day account of what happened, so here goes.

I can count from 1 to 999 in Cantonese. Yat, yee, sam And I can say thank you and here and there and a few others like how much and I cant remember what else. Nobody was willing to teach me swearwords, so any offer of lessons would be appreciated. You only truly know a language when you learn how to swear.

I vaguely remember a shoe shop in Causeway Bay where my mother and sister went on the *thinks* second(?) day to buy shoes. They were inside for the good part of an hour while an enthusiastic salesman ran to the storeroom and back with amazing speed to get them shoes which fitted. He looked so satisfied with himself! And finally they were satisfied and he took the shoes And they decided to NOT buy the shoes and walked out, leaving him staring in disbelief. He did give a name card of some sort in the hope of luring them back But we never went back, and he died of a broken heart joking.

Ohyes! HK isnt really the shopping paradise its supposed to be But Shenzhen to the north is. Haha. They sell fakes at an enormous shopping complex there. And they even have different grades of fakes! D, C, B, A, AA Doesnt that remind you of something.? MY sister bought AA ones of course. Nike Shox. Its amazing. They cost like about twice the normal amount but look exactly like the real thing Haha. And you have to bargain like mad. From HK2200+ to HK650 and we could have got 600. for 4 pairs.

Honestly, the trip got better in the last few days because we spent more time with relatives over there. Theres actually quite a lot of them there, and theyre very nice. And their children are so cuuuteee! Ill post pics ASAP

Oh yes. We were at Macau at some famous fort place. And they had these pay-to-use enormous binoculars. So I was pretending to look thru the wrong end and then Kat and I walked off and left it like that.. And an Asian guy came and actually looked through them that way. Then he turned them around and looked thru the correct side. Obviously he still couldnt see anything (there wasnt any money inside) so he looked thru the wrong side again. He stood there looking bewildered until his friends came along and pointed out the coin slot. I think he went rather red, but It might just have been the 18C temperature.

Overall it was rather fun. More next time.

Funny how when you hate someone you just keep trying to convince yourself how nice they are.
